Open Source Sound Recorder

Here's a great tool that I happened across today. If you're interested in doing podcasts or making your own (or editing) sound files for presentations, among other things, the Audacity Free Audio Sound Editor is perfect. It's a cross-platform application that is cost free as well as being open source. I've already downloaded it and it's very userfriendly and working great already. I've used at least three other costly programs that never worked correctly, didn't translate well to other platforms, and cost money that ended up being wasted. This is a great program. Try it :)

Humanities Web Blog

I've just recently started a new resource weblog where I will be posting various online resources and information about the humanities. I found that I was coming across many wonderful online collections and thought they deserved a home of their own. The new blog is called Humanities Web.

Classical Composers Database

For online researching of composers, check out the Classical Composers Database.
Click on LINKS to find numerous links to other useful sites. This site is not the most user-friendly for students, so I would recommend using it to find the resources they might need ahead of time.

Classics for Kids

The National Endowment for the Arts sponsors this site, Classics for Kids. It's really wonderful, and of course, being a musician myself, I am partial to these things. One really nice feature is the section that allows students to hear what each instrument sounds like.
